Lupe Tortilla: 17 Patios Across Texas in Lupe Red
Lupe Tortilla is a Houston Tex-Mex family that grew across the state, and every Lupe has a patio with a stone wall, red umbrellas and a lot of families at the tables. Between 2020 and 2025 we closed seventeen of those patios the same way: manual roll-up panels in clear vinyl with Lupe red borders, rolled up in spring and dropped for the handful of cold weeks a Texas winter brings.
What we built
- Customer: Lupe Tortilla, Houston, Texas.
- 17 locations across Houston and its suburbs, Austin, Cedar Park, Round Rock, San Antonio, Dallas, Addison, Allen, Irving, Fort Worth and Kingwood.
- About 130 manual roll-up panels in clear vinyl with red solid borders, rope-and-pulley, 6 to 11 per patio.
- About 10,000 square feet of enclosure.
- No doors: Lupe patios open through the restaurant, and the panels tie down to the stone wall.

How the 2021 wave ran
Ten Lupe patios went in between December 2020 and April 2021. Each one got a design consultation, the same red-on-clear panel in sizes cut to that patio’s bays, and a crew visit grouped by city, so Austin, Cedar Park and Round Rock were measured in one trip and installed in another. The group paid for one process and got seventeen matching patios.

What made this one different
Speed with a brand color. Lupe red is a specific red, and the border on every panel matches the umbrellas and the signage at every store. The panels are manual because Lupe’s managers want to open the patio by hand on the first warm day, which in Houston is sometime in February.
